2009-08-15 - ABB wins $160.2 MUSD for three major projects with CFE.
Mexico, D.F., May 13th, 2009.- In order to improve the energy supply and offer service excellence, with the guarantee of the highest quality levels in all processes, at the level of the best utilities in the world, the CFE has recently awarded three major projects to the worldwide leader in power and automation technologies, ABB.
The first contract, valued in $19.2 million dollars, was signed with CFE on March 10 and consists on the execution of the turnkey project of a Static Var Compensator with a capacity of -50 + 150 MVar and 230KV which will be constructed in El Palmar, Baja California Sur, during the last 15 months.
The second contract signed with the CFE took place on March 15, by $ 29.3 million dollars for the execution of the turnkey project of eight 180 MVA Substations in 138-115-34.5-13.8 KV and 5 Transmission lines in 138-115 KV with 43.7 KM-C, which will be providing service to the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas; the project will last 13 months.
The third contract has a value of $ 111.7 million, and was signed in April 30, but confirmed today, and consists on the execution of the turnkey project of two Substations of 400 y 230 KV with a full capacity of 875 MVA, including an Static Var Compensator with a capacity of -300 +300 MVAr in 400 KV, as well as a 179 KM-C transmission line, and will be covering the states of Campeche, Tabasco and Yucatán; it will last 18 months.
The 3 projects will be contracted and executed by ABB México. In two of them, ABB Sweden will run the Static Compensators for VARs as turnkey project.
With these projects, ABB will be supporting the CFE, the biggest electricity enterprise in México, which generates, transmits, distributes and commercializes electric energy to 26 millions of clients, which represents more than 80 million of Mexicans, to regulate and guarantee the adequate supply of the electric system in all the Country, encouraging thus the operation of the touristy and industrial areas.
