"ABB's Industrial IT solutions are the technology of the future," said Ulrich Brendel, technical director at Warsteiner.
At the Warstein site, more than 42,000 I/O points will be coupled with 37 Control IT components via Profibus, operated from 17 Operate process stations.
And at the Paderborn brewery, the system will be expanded to more than 12,000 I/O's and 13 controllers. The two installations will not only replace nine existing systems, but the entire revamp, including Inform IT Production Manager, will integrate all operations at the breweries - from batch logging to filtration, from central power supply to refrigeration.
Access to the entire process
"With Industrial IT, we have access to the whole production process and, thanks to object orientation, all production parameters are transparent," said Brendel.
"This is the second large-scale order for ABB from a German brewery and also one of the biggest Industrial IT projects," said Lothar Buhlmann, ABB key account manager for Warsteiner. "This project helps us deepen our knowledge in this industrial sector and offers the opportunity of creating industry-specific and reusable standards."
