The ABB Corporate Research Center in China opened in early 2005. Research here is focused on power systems, manufacturing technologies and robotics. The Chinese corporate research center is part of the Global Lab Power but also works on R&D projects in the automation area.
Research takes place at ABB China headquarters in Beijing, and at a branch in Shanghai. R&D activity in China also involves close contact with Chinese universities.
We focus on:
- Power transmission and distribution applications including (Ultra-)HVDC, FACTS, Wide Area Monitoring and Control
- Substation automation, protection, SCADA/EMS and energy market systems
- Manufacturing technologies - boosting productivity through faster processes
- Manufacturing - streamlining the supply chain from order to delivery
- Mechatronics - robot manufacturing, focus on technologies for simpler programming
- Robot applications - focus on developing applications for Asian markets
